Exterior of 439 N Arden

This Larchmont new construction happened by accident — a fairly recent project I conceived and completed with a former business partner. The original 1920’s Tudor that was located on the site was supposed to be a renovation/restoration project. After three contractors said it could not be saved, plans changed.

Italianate in design, the front facade is based on a San Marino house designed by famous L.A. architect Wallace Neff.  The design objective was to build a new house, with a layout that works for today’s lifestyle, but doesn’t look out of place in an established older neighborhood.  Most people, even realtors, assumed the house was a remodel, rather than brand new construction, proving the point that if designed properly, new house can fit into the existing streetscape.
